Beyond the Overlook
Our recommendation: Include a rainforest walk in Olympic, but do not feel you need to visit every rainforest area. We preferred Quinault’s quieter feel. If it is already in your itinerary, you can skip Hoh without feeling you have missed this side of the park.
Choose Quinault for the quieter experience we enjoyed
Quinault is where we would spend our rainforest time on a tight itinerary. On our Quinault Loop walk, the forest felt lush, quiet and immersive, with less of the crowd pressure we associated with Hoh. That experience is why we recommend it as a destination in its own right.
Add Hall of Mosses if it fits your route
We enjoyed Hall of Mosses, and its roughly 0.8-mile length makes the walk itself a short outing. The decision is whether reaching Hoh fits your day. Add it if you want to see it and have the time; we would not add the drive simply to tick off the famous name after another rainforest visit.
