Affiliate Disclosure
Our recommendations come first. A commission never turns a skip into a recommendation.

How affiliate links work
Some links on Beyond the Overlook are affiliate links. If you click one and make a qualifying purchase or booking, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
How we choose what to recommend
We aim to recommend experiences, lodging, transportation and services because we think they are useful—not because a commission is available. We also publish things we would skip, lower-ranked options and experiences we would not repeat.
Firsthand experience
When we personally used, stayed at, hiked or experienced something, we try to make that clear. When a guide includes researched planning information beyond our firsthand experience, we do not present that research as something we personally did.
Page-level disclosures
When a page contains an affiliate relationship that is particularly relevant to the recommendation, we may also include a disclosure directly on that page.
