Moro Rock: A Very Short Hike With Huge Views
It is quick, steep and exposed — and the views are enormous. One of the highest-payoff short hikes in Sequoia.
Our verdict: MUST DO. The hike is tiny on paper, but it does not feel ordinary.

The stairs are the hike
Moro Rock climbs directly up a granite dome. It is not technical, but the staircase is steep and the exposure is very noticeable. Handrails make the route feel controlled, but this is not the place to rush.
The payoff comes almost immediately
You do not need hours to get a huge Sierra view. As soon as you rise above the trees, the Great Western Divide opens up. That effort-to-view ratio is why we liked it so much.
Parking note: The lot is small, and summer access can involve the park shuttle on weekends and holidays. Check current park transportation before you go.
