Alpin Garden Ortisei Review: Is It Worth It?
An intimate Val Gardena hotel where the food, service and sunset mountain views made the stay feel like part of the trip.
What we paid
We stayed July 1–4 in a Superior room with half board. Our reservation showed a standard total of €1,872 and a 20% Midweek Special discount of €374.40, bringing our three-night total to €1,497.60. That is what we paid on our trip, not a current rate.
The food was a highlight
We were assigned the same table for meals, which added to the intimate feel. There was a very good salad buffet plus ordered courses, plenty of fish and vegetarian options, bread at meals and dessert/cheese offerings. The staff were accommodating with requests.
Breakfast was excellent. One morning we needed to leave early for a hike, and after asking the front desk in advance they prepared food for us to take. That is a great tip if you are planning an early Dolomites start.
The atmosphere
Our room was large and we had a welcome chocolate. The mountain view from the dining room was fantastic—at sunset, guests would stop to photograph it. We also had excellent cocktails and bar snacks before dinner.
Spa and service
The spa was very relaxing, and the concierge was genuinely helpful with recommendations. The hotel also had umbrellas available to borrow at the front.
Location and parking
We could walk or take a short drive into Ortisei. Our only minor annoyance was the outdoor parking directly in front of the hotel, which we found a little tight and awkward to maneuver. The issue was not the underground garage.
Who should stay here?
Choose Alpin Garden if you want something smaller and more boutique rather than a large resort. For us, the intimacy, food and service made it one of the highlights of the stay.
